Castleblayney Regeneration announces new festival for the town, taking place from Thursday 19th September to Sunday 22nd September 2019 .

Castleblayney Regeneration Committee are making plans for “The Back to Castleblayney Festival” which is designed to build on the successful festival last year. The Castleblayney town saw a huge influx of visitors to the town for a three day festival which culminated in the unveiling of both the Musical Wall of Fame on Saturday 22nd September and the Big Tom Statue on Sunday 23rd September 2018 by the President Michael D. Higgins.

Three themes for the Festival are emerging to encourage tourists and past Blayney people back to the town for the weekend, commencing with a play about famous Blayney photographer Dr JJ Clarke on Thursday 19th September 2019 in Íontas, Friday night 20th September is Culture Night and will see a play being staged about JJ Clarke around the Castle Gates followed by music by Susan McCann in Íontas and Johnny Brady in the Glencarn Hotel. We will have Paddy Cole playing in Mindzenty Park on Saturday 21st September at 2pm and Oram have a full line up of Big Tom related activities over the weekend from plays, music to football blitzes over the weekend, culminating in a Vintage run on Sunday to the Big Tom Statue where there will be music at 3pm on Sunday 22nd September.

The businesses of the town are being encouraged to get behind the Festival by decorating their premises with  JJ Clarke/Paddy Cole and/ or Big Tom paraphernalia . Castleblayney Regeneration committee would encourage all townspeople to encourage family and friends to come back to the town for what promises to be a great weekend so spread the word!
