The Unveiling of St. Peter’s Pulpit

There was a packed Church for the unveiling of St. Peter’s Pulpit which took place Last Sunday 22nd October in the Tin Church Laragh, Castleblayney. The event was organised by the hard working and enthusiastic Laragh Heritage group.

The Minister Heather Humphreys unveiled the hand carved pulpit which brings the journey of discovery, peeling back the layers of Laragh’s rich industrial past whilst celebrating its community achievement and another step in conservation and restoration of the Tin Church Laragh.

Constructed of tin, St. Peter’s Church is one of a kind in County Monaghan and unique on the island of Ireland for its quirky design and carefully considered features. It is part of Ireland’s irreplaceable built heritage and was listed as a Building of National Importance by National Inventory of Architectural Heritage in 2014.

The Church is open to the public on Sunday's and Bank Holiday Monday's from 12 to 6pm. There is no entry fee but donations are gladly accepted.
