At a Specially Convened Meeting on Monday night last which was attended by David Fallon Town Manager and members of the Town Council, Chamber of Commerce and Castleblayney Community Enterprise Ltd., a motion was tabled by the
Town Major Joe Brennan calling on the Government to provide funding for the “Fit Out” of a building in the town to accommodate future
Court Sittings which have recently been moved
to Carrickmacross.
The meeting which was also attended by Oireachtas members Caoimhin O Caolain TD
(Sinn Fein) and Seymour Crawford (Fine Gael)
was informed that the offer by the towns Solicitors to provide the Court Service with a “rent free” building was still on the table but the Court Service had since “raised the bar” in relation to their demands for facilities within the proposed building and it was the cost of providing these facilities which were now been sought by the meeting from the relevant Government Department.
The meeting concluded by re-affirming the member’s disbelief that in this current climate that a Government Department seem to be refusing a rent free premises!
