Castleblayney Enterprise Centre provides a newly refurbished, spacious and well maintained Computer Suite which is available for all your Training & Hire purposes. The Centre also offers Tea/Coffee facilities & Lunch is available on request.

COMPUTER SUITE FACILITIES: The Computer suite comprises of 13 new flat screen monitors & 13 Fujitsu Siemens Pentium 4 Processor networked PC's. Software includes: Windows XP Professional Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Professional 2003, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Sage Line 50 (Computerised Accounts), Sage QuickPay & Collsoft (Computerised Payroll) .
Our Computer Suite also provides ahigh-speed DSL Broadband Internet connection of up to 7Mbps, a trainer workstation connected to a ceiling mounted LCD/Multimedia Projector, a Flipchart & Electric screen, a Colour Scanner and a Colour LaserJet Printer.

The Computer Suite facility was created thanks to a grant from Cavan/Monaghan Rural Development Co-op through LEADER.

Computer Training Course Schedule: We are now offering a range of Computer Training courses to suit the needs of all interested candidates.
EqualSkills: Equalskills is a fun, informal and uncomplicated introduction to computers & the Internet, showing the use & role of technology in the everyday lives of all people, regardless of status, education, age, ability or understanding.
It has been designed as a flexible learning programme that provides the ultimate introduction to basic computer skills.
The course syllabus is covered & delivered via an easy-to-follow Workbook, & a certificate is awarded by ICS-skills on succesful completion of the programme.

Beginners Internet & Email: This fun Tuesday evening class for beginners teaches the basics of the Internet, the Web and Email. This course helps you to understand a wide range of Internet concepts such as Broadband, Download Speeds, ISP’s, email addresses, Web Pages, Web Sites and more, as well as helping you to master common Internet & email tasks such as how to send/receive emails, how to send attachments, how to search the Web for specific information, how to book holidays & flights online as well as how to use online banking and shopping Websites, and much more!

It is also an ideal introduction for those who later hope to complete an ECDL course. This course covers Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet and Email.

Next Course: Thursday Morning 23rd September 2010, @10am-1pm, 10 weeks, costs €120.
ECDL: The ECDL course is delivered over 24 weeks, via 7 modules, to cover a wide range of core computer skills, including the use of common computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access (Databases), Concepts of IT, Using Computers & Managing Files, Information & Communications (Internet & Email). When all 7 modules have been completed, an ECDL certificate is then awarded by ICS-Skills and as such verifies a high-level of competence in computer use. The ECDL is well recognised both here in Ireland and Internationally, and therefore is highly desirable with regard to employment or industry.

Advanced ECDL: ECDL Advanced is ideal for anyone who has completed their ECDL and who now wishes to expand their knowledge further through 4 separate & specific advanced modules in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and Presentations. Successful completion of all 4 Advanced ECDL modules then entitles the Candidate to the prestigious ECDL Expert certificate.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel: This course is an ideal starting point for those who have little or no experience of using Microsoft Excel, as it introduces basic Spreadsheet concepts & also helps to develop a good working knowledge of Excel. The course covers topics such as: The Excel Window & toolbars, navigating spreadsheets using the mouse & keyboard, entering in, formatting, sorting & filtering data, cell referencing, basic formulae & functions, simple charts and graphs, printing spreadsheets, as well as importing data into Excel.

Digital Photography & Photoshop: Learn the basic skills required to capture, store, open & edit digital images. Learn all about a range of Digital Camera's and their features, as well as some of the main concepts underlying digital images, such as pixels and resolution.
Learn also how to use camera features such as shutter speeds & exposure, ISO, White Balance, and depth of field, etc, to capture more adventurous compositions & images, capturing portraits images, movement shots, landscapes, macro images, etc.
Then learn to use Adobe Photoshop Elements (a digital image editing program) and a range of special effects features to manipulate images by resizing, rotating, duplicating, moving or cropping images and much, much more.
Finally as part of this course you will also learn how to print & send digital images via email, upload images to a social networking site like Facebook or Bebo, save your digital images onto a CD or DVD, and how to scan in images.

Computerised Accounts - Sage Line 50: This 8-week computerised accounts course explains everything you need to know about the basic operation of the Sage Line 50 programme. The course begins with a brief revision of manual accounting techniques and progresses to cover processing transactions, error correction, bank reconciliation, VAT returns as well as sales day book and returns, profit and loss account and balance sheet.
Learn to setup a company, use powerful reporting tools, create & manage your customers, suppliers, products & stock, as well as create invoices and credit notes. Sage Line 50 is not only a powerful accounting system but it is also Ireland's most popular business accounting software.

PC Maintenance - An Introduction:
NEW for 2010: This PC Maintenance Course is an introductory course to maintaining a computer. This course would be suited to anyone who has good experience of using computers, who has a keen interest in upgrading computers & keeping computers running efficiently, and also in keeping their own IT knowledge & skills up to date.
The course would also make an excellent stepping stone for someone who simply wishes to try their hand at computer maintenance with a view to later pursuing a career as a computer technician, but without the initial commitment of having to pay for an expensive computer technician’s course.
This course will begin by investigating what is Computer Maintenance, why it is important to maintain a computer, and reasons to upgrade a computer; such as improving a computer’s performance, repairing broken computer components & parts or adding new features to a computer.
Over 10 weeks this course will cover a wealth of topics, theory & techniques including; Computer Hardware & Software, Operating Systems, Computer Applications, Input & Output Devices, Internal & External Storage Devices, Computer Processing, Memory, Expansion Slots, Adding or Removing Programs, Useful Windows Utilities, Preventing or Removing Threats, Troubleshooting techniques, additional computing features such as Internet access, printing, scanning, wireless connectivity, graphics capability, sound cards, network cards, and much, much more.

Publisher & PowerPoint Creative Computers Summer Camp for KIDS (8-12)
 This summer camp/computers course is great for kids (aged 8-12) who already have good computer skills and who would like to further develop those skills & their creative talents using Microsoft Publisher & Microsoft PowerPoint to design & publish a range material, such as cards, menus, posters, flyers, invitations, gift vouchers, certificates & presentations, etc. This course also covers some basic IT Theory.

The course helps kids to understand a wide range of Internet & Email concepts such as Web Pages, Web Sites, Broadband, Download Speeds, ISP’s, email addresses, and more, as well as helping them master common everyday Internet & Email tasks such as how to: Browse the Web by entering the correct Website address, Search the Web for specific information/research, and how to Send & Receive emails, with/without attachments
Finally the course also helps to deliver an overall awareness of the many fantastic uses & benefits of the Internet (eg: entertainment, research, online games, music, educational, shopping, keeping in touch) as well as teaching children to be aware of the various downfalls & threats of the Internet (eg: viruses, spyware, scams, disclosure/misuse of information).
